On behalf of the Ministry of Education, I take this opportunity to congratulate the Class of 2020 graduands of the University of Embu as you celebrate your hard work and academic achievement. You are certainly a special group of graduands who have worked hard under more difficult situation in the final year of your programmes as a result of the Covid-19. The 5th Graduation Ceremony of the University of Embu is therefore very special for you, your parents and guardians. I thank the Council, Management, Senate and Staff for their contribution to your academic success. As you march on to the next phase of your life, I encourage you to use the knowledge, skills and competencies you have acquired at the University to find solutions to challenges facing your respective communities, regions, and country at large.
I commend the University for adjusting its teaching and learning strategies to ensure the Class of 2020 made it to graduation during this year when we have faced a myriad of challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. I am cognisant of the efforts made by our institutions of higher learning in changing their modes of service delivery to adapt to the new normal, and to ensure they continue providing teaching and learning services to our students. I urge all players in the higher education sector to focus on programmes that are not only geared towards attainment of Government’s goals under the Big Four Agenda, but also equip our graduands with skills and abilities to deal with challenges arising from the emerging issues in the Country.
I wish to assure all the education stakeholders that the Government, through the Ministry of Education, will continue to provide support to universities through resource allocation for development and expansion of the higher education sector, to ensure continuous improvement in the quality of university education.
Once again, congratulations to all the graduands.
