TRIUMPHING OVER ADVERSITY

It is with great joy that I congratulate the graduating class of 2020. You have indeed triumphed over adversity to get to this point, having endured unprecedented challenges, especially in your last semester. Hongera for finishing the race!
As in all sectors of the country, the University of Embu and in particular, the Academics, Research and Extension Division, has been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic which has ravaged the world. Nevertheless, we have never wavered in our key focus of providing learning experiences that develop all-round students with both soft and hard skills necessary for effective service delivery. As a Division, we were able to align our activities to the emerging circumstances so as to minimize the interruption of service delivery. In the case of teaching and learning, blended teaching and learning strategies were carefully crafted to ensure that levels of quality that the University has steadily been gaining a reputation for were maintained.
The culmination of these efforts by both members of staff and students is our fifth graduation ceremony. I therefore would like to acknowledge the entire University staff for their resilience, experience, knowledge, and critical thinking that helped us pull through. The University remains committed to the timely discharge of its mandate and has put in place measures to ensure a strict adherence to the safety and health principles designed to assure the wellbeing of all our customers. As such, all who wish to partner with the University as students or collaborators in other ways are assured that all necessary measures are in place to provide a safe environment.
To the graduands, as you embark on this new adventure that is life after University, take a moment to reflect on your achievement and celebrate your success; you have earned it! However, take only a moment, as that which lies ahead contains both opportunities and challenges. I am sure you are adequately prepared to take advantage of the former and overcome the latter.
Congratulations on your graduation, which serves to propel you to a new and exciting chapter of your life that brings you close to realizing your dreams. Should your dream include further education, the University of Embu is ready to partner with you to realize the same.
May the graduation serve as the beginning of a life full of success!

Prof. Kiplagat Kotut
